Every now and then, the blogosphere burps. A number of writers will contribute their own well reasoned arguments [or hot air] to a controversial topic that bubbles and grows until there's a collective belch, after which everyone can return to posting cat pictures or recounting lunch.
This week, just such a burp occurred. One female academic blogger argued that women faculty [especially the young and untenured] work much harder than their male counterparts. This claim inspired a number of responses, all of which reacted to something the original writer had said. Here is the thread:
